According to a visitation report from the Schuld parish, the St. Apollinaris Chapel in Winnerath was built in 1666. In 1897, the chapel tower was so dilapidated that it had to be renovated and re-roofed the following year. In 1926, the chapel was enlarged with an extension. In 1960, the chapel was renovated again.
