Bike Touring Highlight
The Dahlhausen station has existed in its current form since 1917. Previous structures on the route from Essen-Steele to Hattingen and Herdecke had become too small. In 1979 the station building was decommissioned and from 1994 it was restored in accordance with the Art Nouveau style.
In addition to S-Bahn trains, museum trains of the Ruhr Valley Railway and the shuttle service to the Railway Museum stop in Dahlhausen.

In the immediate vicinity of the Bochum-Dahnhausen train station is the railway museum of the same name with a large collection of various locomotives and wagons. On weekends, the Ruhr Valley route is also used by special passenger trains, sometimes also with steam. There is also a shuttle service from the train station to the museum.
