The 100-meter-long boardwalk was constructed to allow visitors to cross the Niederwiesen meadows toward Landwehrweg while simultaneously preserving this sensitive biotope. The Niederwiesen meadows are located in the floodplain of the Wickerbach stream. Water from the Landwehrgraben ditch is channeled into the meadows to further rehydrate them. Moisture-loving plants are now settling here, followed by insects, amphibians, and birds—possibly even the white stork. The area is being ecologically enhanced.
