Remnant of a short former rail connection between the Phoenix steel plant and the waste deposit area Hympendahl across the valley used since the 1860s, with this viaduct completed in 1899. Long since collapsed, it is planned to install a viewing platform and reconnect both sides. ruhrgebiet-industriekultur.de/phoenix-west.html

The Hympendahl Viaduct is really worth seeing. It is a remnant of the former railway connection between the Phoenix steelworks and the Hympendahl deposit area, which has been in use since the 1860s. Today only the bridgeheads of the former viaduct are preserved.
