The Brouwersdam is an impressive structure that is part of the Dutch Delta Works and connects the islands of Goeree-Overflakkee and Schouwen-Duiveland. The 6.5-kilometer-long dam was built between 1962 and 1971 to close the Brouwershavense Gat and create the Grevelingenmeer, which is now considered the largest saltwater lake in Western Europe.
