The von Palant family is considered to be the builder of the Kinzweiler castle complex, who acquired the Kinzweiler estate together with two existing moths in 1420 from the heirs of the Knights of Kinzweiler. Historians assume that the family later gave up the outdated moths as a place of residence and instead used the Kinzweiler Castle, newly built by Dietrich von Palant at the beginning of the 16th century.
