The Lago di Luzzone is located at the very back of the Blenio Valley at an altitude of 1,590 meters above sea level. The reservoir is located in the municipality of Blenio in the northernmost part of the canton of Ticino and is filled by the mountain streams Ri di Cavalasca, Ri di Garzora and Ri di Scaradra. After the 225m high Luzzone dam, the Brenno di Luzzone flows down from the reservoir.
The Luzzone reservoir is also well known within the climbing world. Experienced climbers can conquer the lake's dam wall on a via ferrata.
