The site of the former Oberschöna quarry extends over approximately 19 hectares southwest of Freiberg. With its quarry water, steep edges and variously vegetated heaps and sole systems, the quarry is a valuable habitat for amphibians and reptiles, among others, as well as a breeding area for owls.
