Depending on your pace, the Birnbachloch can be reached in one to one and a half hours, making it a popular and easily manageable destination for families with young children. Good shoes are essential, of course, and once you reach the top, you can relax, enjoy the view, and have a well-deserved snack.

The tour to Birnbachloch starts first in the forest and then leads through meadows and later rocky terrain. The path is well maintained and sometimes a bit alpine - but always well secured. After about an hour, the Best Mountain Artists reach the finish line at 1,291 meters. Refreshment for hikers provide the clear wells at the cave. On hot days you can even venture a few steps into the shady Birnbachloch and enjoy the view. Thorsten and Marius decide to take a breather, let the magic of Birnbachloch work on you and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains.

Nice resting place at the Birnbachloch. The Birnbachloch is a karst spring with an approx. 20 m wide "entrance hall". The Birnbach rises inside this hall. In addition to the Birnbachloch, the Birnbach Glacier, Central Europe's lowest-lying glacier, awaits hikers a few hundred meters away. This looks back on an important history, since at the end of the 19th century the Munich beer breweries won the ice for their ice cellars here. The blocks of ice were transported down from the mountain via wooden slides that were hundreds of meters long.
