The Teufelsteich was created at the end of the 17th century for mining purposes. The dammed waters are the Teufelsgrundbach and the Siebengrundbach. An additional outflow was the Fürst-Victor-Kunstgraben, which flows into the Silberhütter Aufschlaggraben.
