THE MONUMENT TO 6 FREEDOM FIGHTER
The memorial stone was erected where the Germans secretly buried 6 young Danes in 1943 who had been executed for sabotage. The six freedom fighters had participated in acts of sabotage against railways and pro-German companies.
The burial on Kallesmærsk Hede near Blåvand was kept secret. The place, which was not marked in any way, was also unknown to the relatives. Only after the war did a German officer help locate the site. In May 1945, those executed were exhumed and taken to their hometowns for a proper burial.

The memorial stone was erected in 1952 and was a door stone at St Jacobi Church in Varde for 600 years.

The memorial stone stands on the edge of the military compound on the moor and although the compound is open to the public it is not easy as you have to go through a wooded area where driving is prohibited.
