Bike Touring Highlight
Zierikzee is worth a visit! The idyllic places invite you to take a break. A walk through the narrow streets, to the old harbor, past the magnificent merchants' houses, along the small, crooked fisherman's houses to the new harbor and the windmill. A boat trip on the Grevelingen Sea is recommended with prior reservation.

The harbor town of Zierikzee has a rich history and more than five hundred monuments in and around the city. Zierikzee already had an interesting silhouette with walls, gates, churches, towers and mills in the early 15th century. Much of it can still be seen today.
Zierikzee owes its origin and prosperity to the water. The islands of Schouwen and Duiveland were separated by the Gouwe centuries ago. In the Middle Ages, this was the most important shipping connection between Flanders and Holland.
