The Rehturm - was first mentioned in 1498 by name. Once incorporated into a coherent system of watchtowers, the Rehturm once had the task of warning the inhabitants of the Plassenburg and the city of Kulmbach of threatening dangers by illuminating the signal fire. This complex alarm system extended from Bamberg over the Franconian Forest and the Fichtelgebirge all the way to the Vogtland. After the reconstruction after the Markgräflerkrieg it was restored in the 20th century and today it is one of the most beautiful and charming viewpoints in and around Kulmbach.
