In 'De Uitlegger' you can walk in an artificial nature reserve of almost 90 hectares.
The German 'Forgotten Lines', built in 1917 - WW1 run through the domain.
The former landowner found the German bunkers on his domain disturbing landscape elements.
Solution: He ordered to cover these disturbing elements with sand. Many water features have been created in the nature reserve De Uitlegger. Today you can discover two Troop bunkers. Only 1 bunker is accessible. The other is a bat enclosure.
Did you know you: name reference of 'De Uitlegger'. This is an old name for the profession of 'Landmeter'. In the past, the owner was a Land Surveyor, hence the name for the nature reserve.
Just enjoy all this artificial.

During the months of May and June, walk or cycle through the Uitlegger (90 hectares) and blooming rhododendrons and azaleas will spoil your eyes and nose. In addition to the forest, where coniferous species dominate, you can also enjoy the pond. It was created in a very unique way: from bunkers from the First World War. The then owner neatly covered those bunkers with sand, while the pond complex was excavated. The Antitankgracht, which crosses the area, provides a special biotope with many rare animals and plants.
