The Urach waterfall is one of the absolute highlights of the Swabian Alb and, with its total height of 87 meters, is one of the highest waterfalls in Germany outside the Alps. It is particularly impressive for snowmelt or after heavy rain, because then flows a lot of water. Together with the very humid and therefore dense and green forest around you feel almost transported to another world. There is a hut directly above the waterfall.
An incredibly beautiful destination. Certainly one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Germany. Especially in autumn and winter, this place exudes a special charm. Rain and condensation create a wild stream of water. In addition, there are fewer visitors in this season. If one goes the Wasserfallrundweg (11km, scarcely 4 hours) one is also otherwise quite fast alone and can enjoy the mad nature.
If you are on the way to the Urach waterfall you can strengthen yourself on the way there in the waterfall hut. When the weather is nice the hut is open every day from March to October. Outdoors there are more places. The offer on the Vesperkarte is certainly something for everyone. Hikers on the Albsteig also like to take care of the further way here.
The Urach waterfall is one of the most beautiful natural spectacles in the Swabian Alb. Between 70 and 420 liters fall here about a tufa edge 37 meters in depth. The amount of water varies depending on the amount of precipitation on the previous days or snowmelt. In winter, in prolonged periods of cold, the waterfall can even be frozen.
Steps up the cascades and down the fall lead up to a bridge over the waterfall. From there you can watch the water as it plunges into the depths. The origin of the falls is still a few hundred meters further in a karst spring.
Above the waterfalls you have a great view over the fall and the course of the water. The waterfall hut offers a perfect place for a longer break on a large square. For the physical well-being is also provided here in good weather. From good Vespers on drinks of all kinds to the ice cream everything is there.
BBQ areas are also available.
