Castle Stein, also Zullestein, Kellerei Stein, Schlossberg, called Schlossbuckel, was a Niederungsburg with attached settlement near the village Nordheim, Kreis Bergstraße in Hesse. Since Roman times a fortress is detectable here, the medieval castle was completely destroyed at the end of the 17th century and fell into oblivion. Only in 1957, the foundations were rediscovered in oil drilling (Source: Wikipedia.de)
The remains are very interesting for history buffs. A well-signposted "circular route" leads around the surviving foundations.

Very well-kept area, with enough space to rest. Plus a small hut if it rains. Everything is comfortably in the shade.

I took the last picture from another page. It is definitely a hiking destination, of course, a destination by bike. There was also a village with a few houses, called Zullenstein that was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. There are only the foundations. All around are benches and brief descriptions of the castle.

With its shady location, Stein Castle offers a great destination. Some ruins, a tour and information board explain the history and life in the castle.
