Marienthal Abbey is one of the oldest places of pilgrimage in Germany. According to tradition, in the 14th century a blind hunter prayed to an image of the Virgin Mary that was attached to a tree in the forest. As a result, the hunter was able to see again - in honor of this miracle, a small chapel was first built. Due to the numerous pilgrims, the chapel was replaced by the monastery church only a few years later. The lovingly laid out monastery garden is also particularly worth seeing.
