The current Kühnitzsch Castle was built in the 17th century on the remains of an old moated castle from the 12th century. Further modifications were made in the 18th century. After 1945 the owners were expropriated and the associated manor was divided among new farmers. The castle was used as an apartment, school and kindergarten. The outer shell was renovated in 1991/92 and a special needs school and daycare center had moved in by 2005. After that the castle was sold.
