Karl Foerster (1874-1970), gardener, breeder and gardening philosopher, loved his job like no other. With his writings and the introduction of numerous wild and cultivated perennials, he has had a lasting influence on German and international garden culture. That is why the Gardens of the World dedicated the Karl Foerster Perennial Garden, which opened in March 2008, to him and consists of sophisticated plantings and freely designed natural gardens. A special feature of the garden are the striking solitary shrubs, which give the garden abundant flowering even outside the main season. That is why it is also called the “garden of the four seasons”.

Forest clearings, grassy areas and deep shade areas flow seamlessly into the park's surroundings.

It is the only area in the Gardens of the Worlds where there are no buildings.

This means that there are perennials and shrubs in bloom all year round.
