The Bismarck Tower was inaugurated on October 3rd, 1909. A pageant of around two thousand citizens moved from the Kaiser-Joseph-Monument through the city of Eger to the Grünberg. After World War II, the building was in a restricted military area and was forgotten. The tower was also increasingly covered by trees and could no longer be seen from the German side. Until the end of August 2001 it was not officially known in the German-speaking area that this Bismarck tower was still preserved. The building was completely renovated by June 2005 for two million crowns. The trees obstructing the view in the observation area of the tower have been removed. The 100th anniversary of the tower was celebrated on June 20th, 2009.
Opening times: from 01.04. until October 31 daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Bismarckturm of Cheb is one of three Bismarck towers in the Czech Republic. It lies on the mountain Zelená hora (green mountain) about 4 km west of the city Cheb (Eger).
It was built in 1909 on the site of a wooden tower from 1891. During the Cold War, it was inside the forbidden border zone and was forgotten.
