The Blücherpark was created according to plans by the garden architect Fritz Encke in the years 1911 to 1913. It is located between the districts of Neuehrenfeld and Bilderstöckchen. It is 18.4 hectares in size.
The name of the park is reminiscent of the Prussian Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher.
In the front part of the park there is a
Kahnweiher. At its southern end, a beer garden invites you to take a break.

The park is mainly frequented by citizens from (Neu-)Ehrenfeld, Bilderstöckchen and Nippes, who use the park extensively for barbecuing in the summer months, also because the park area offers many niches. Dog owners, joggers and mothers with their children enjoy doing laps in Blücherpark. There is a large playground for children on the northeast side, and there are also two fairly natural soccer fields.

The large lion sculptures and the concrete balls scattered throughout the park are worth seeing. Horticulturist Fritz Encke designed the park as the "green lung of the north of Cologne" and did a great job: To this day, Blücherpark is a close and attractive way to escape the noise and unrest of the former workers' settlements in the north of Cologne. Today the park is also often used by employees of the neighboring RheinEnergie for their lunch break.
