    Tips

We found the tour too intense! The ranger "warned" us in the information center in front of the summit and said that it had "smaller climbing units" and that people had to be picked up from the helicopter - but put off the weather. The weather was perfect here.

The tour took 4-5 hours according to Ranger, Wanderführer and Komoot and was rated as "moderate" to "difficult".

The tour started well and was not particularly difficult - until the "Kitchen Hut", which lies just below the summit. But then it was not a hike anymore, but rather freeclimbing. The rocks went partly 3-4 meters steeply upwards and you had to climb these without securing or holding the rocks. I would call ourselves experienced wanderers, but if we lost our grip there, we would not have broken a few bones.

When we finally got to the top, the visibility was spectacular. Nevertheless, the fear of relegation quickly spread. After we made the descent, we were not hiking for a while. That was a category too violent. The tour lasted 7:30 hours in the end and we were at some point at the end of our forces.

In retrospect, several factors were responsible.

    1. When an Australian Ranger says to one that it is "tricky"

could be, then we will listen to it in the future!

    2. German "heavy" is not equal to Australian "heavy" in the guide

    3. Contour lines do not match the vegetation (see pictures) and lead to wrong times

    Tips:

    - Take enough water and food with you. Isotonic drinks, because after 1:30 hours, water can no longer balance the household!

    - Take sunscreen with you (sunscreen and coverage for the neck)

    - Grab another windbreaker, the wind up there is cold.

    - Pay attention to the weather. I need a time window of min. 6 hours without clouds.

    - Listen to the Rangers!

Despite all adversities, it was an unforgettable tour in the unique and unrivaled nature of Tasmania.

Picturesque lake! You can take the bus all the way to the lake. From there you have a variety of walks that can keep you busy for a couple of days... Or just take the bus back and call it a day :)

If you can't get up Cradle Mountain than a walk around Dove Lake is a good option
