A number of people who served the United States have their memorials here. The Equestrian Statue of Washington appears to be riding out of town from its prominent spot. Of the others, I think the story of General Tadeusz Kosciuszko is particularly worth reading.

The park was established as the first botanical garden in the United States in 1837 by philanthropist Horace Gray. The lake ("The Lagoon") can be navigated with the old swan boats.
