The station was opened 4 August 1899 by LNWR, as a stop between Parsley Hay and Alsop en le Dale.
Regular passenger services ended in 1954, and it closed for good 7 October 1963.
The station buildings were demolished, but the signal box remains and has been restored.

Parking, toilets & picnic area are available at this stop along the Tissington Trail. On a previous visit there were also refreshments available. This may still be the case; although they were closed today, which could be because I arrived late afternoon on a bank holiday Monday.
