A smart mountain hiker does without the gondola ride to the Wallberg mountain station, but walks from the Wallbergmoos car park up to the Wallberghaus in 1 hour. From there you go over an alpine educational trail around the Setzberg to the start of the ridge hike up to the Risserkogel 1825m. The last 100hm must be overcome by a mountain pine gutter. Once at the top, you stand on the highest Tegernsee and have a fantastic view.
Surefootedness and a head for heights should be a matter of course on this tour, as some parts are quite exposed.

Short steep ascent from the Blankenstein saddle, at the summit a fantastic all-round view of 1825m! View of the Wilder Kaiser, Guffert, Spitzing, Tegernsee, Großglockner, Großvenediger, ... 😀

In winter the way from Wildbad Kreuth is probably the better one. Don't forget Val Gardena.
