Chatsworth House is like something from a period drama. In fact, it was the filming location for Mr Darcy’s Pemberley home in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Standing proudly amid rolling hills with the River Derwent meandering gently by, it is a stunning sight.
The 17th-century house contains works of art that span 4,000 years. The 105-acre garden, designed by Joseph Paxton, is equally famous. With historic waterworks, sculptures, a Victorian rock garden, a maze, plus more, there is a lot to explore.

If parking at Calton Lees make sure to pay for your parking online on the Chatsworth website ahead of time as you can’t buy on the day.
This is a really beautiful and leisurely walk along the River Derwent to Paine’s Bridge just in front of Chatsworth House. Great views of the house and the estate and if you’re lucky, like I was, you can see the herd of deer. Stunning.

Try the routes behind the house as they're much quieter than the main paths. Nice wooded areas and lakes too.
