We strayed off the primary route slightly, going up a steep loose rock field/wall, which was crap to be honest. I'd suggest sticking with the actual trail as marked on the ground, or the same way as we came down.
Also, if you go up first thing, bring a long-ish stick with you to clear the way as there

I wouldn't call it an easy hike. There are some steep climbs and the terrain is unstable and rocky in a lot of places. The actual hut itself isn't much (was closed when we arrived) but the views are nice.
