Freudenstein Castle (also Schlickburg; Czech hrádek Freudenstein also Šlikův hrádek) was a castle built between 1517 and 1520 to protect and manage the profitable silver mining of the newly founded mining town of Sankt Joachimsthal (Jáchymov). During the Thirty Years' War the castle was severely damaged by artillery fire and was not rebuilt afterwards. Two battery towers and a short remains of the wall still bear witness to the building.
