    The Saadian tombs, formally created as gardens of the mosque, were rediscovered only in 1917. The Alawid Sultan Mulai Ismail had them encircled by a wall to remove the memory of the dynasty from cultural memory. It is best not to start too late, because depending on the season, it can be relatively crowded here.
