A pastor in Zams is mentioned for the first time in a document in 1271. At that time the seat of the original parish was probably moved from Stanz near Landeck to Zams. The church that exists today was rebuilt by Josef Huter after the village fire in 1911 and consecrated in 1913. In 1977 and 1978 the church was restored.
