The ensemble of castle and village church make Taubenheim stand out from the surrounding towns. Both are originally Renaissance buildings from the 16th century. However, the castle was heavily modified in the 19th and 20th centuries and therefore shows neo-Gothic stylistic forms. It has not been used since 2001. The church is still very original with a painted wooden ceiling and a vaulted cell choir, which is attributed to a student of the Meißner Albrechtsburg master builder Arnold von Westfalen.
