The remains of the old Panzerstrasse between the large and Wenigentaft remind of a piece of inner German history, the "death strip", the wall that separated 40 German states for 40 years. What is left is a renatured “green ribbon” that can be hiked across Germany. As a hiker who still consciously experienced the former “zone boundary”, the thought of walking here, where 371 people were killed by mines and self-shot systems until the border was opened, does not leave me completely unaffected.

The ascent behind Wenigentaft towards B84 / Point Alpha is an experience for hardcore hikers. Have fun copying!

        On the Wenigentaft-Soisdorf road:

At this point, the border with its barriers crossed the Wenigentaft-Soisdorf road. The patrol road also led up to Standorfsberg here. Due to the steep gradient—probably the steepest in the entire GDR barrier system—vehicles were only allowed to use it in exceptional circumstances for safety reasons.

The slabs were removed towards the end of the 1990s.
