The "House on the Border" was built in order to be able to show a realistic and balanced representation of the conditions on the eastern side of the inner-German border, also understandable for later generations. As the name suggests, it was built on the so-called "Kolonnenweg" and thus almost exactly on the border between East and West. Inside there is a - I'll call it - museum and a permanent exhibition on two floors. Outside, parts of the border security systems have been preserved. Today you can walk along the Kolonnenweg and see everything.

This is not the right place to write down what can be seen there. You have to see it for yourself and ideally book a guided tour and join in. When I stopped there for the photos on this tour, three buses were there, each of whose travelers had been given a separate tour. A visit is highly recommended.
