This porter's lodge belonged to the Castle of Inkendael.
A subsequent owner, the industrialist Henri Bollinckx, a well-known manufacturer of (fixed) steam engines, had a porter's lodge built around 1890 on the corner of Postweg and Kamstraat – a playful, picturesque brick and sandstone construction with stepped gables and a pointed corner turret. The porter's lodge was connected to Inkendael Castle by a new, steeply sloping, initially hollow and shaded avenue with yew (Taxus baccata 'Dovastoniana').
