The baroque church is located in Emsdorf, a district of Kirchhain in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district, and was built as it is in 1748. Saint Nepomuk, a Bohemian priest and martyr, stands above the entrance.

The interior is in Rococo style. The architect of this church was the Tyrolean Johann Christian Singer. There is a figure of Mary on the roof rider and the visitor can see that this church is dedicated to St. Mary. In 1754 the auxiliary bishop of Mainz, Christof Nebel, consecrated the church. Abundant gold was used to decorate the high altar. This altar was built by the Allendorfer craftsman Johann Michael Schratz in 1763.

St. Joachim and St. Anna are left and right in the windows. They were brought to Emsdorf by horse and cart. The two angels for the high altar are said to have been carried on foot by two Emsdorf residents from Fulda to Emsdorf. All figures were made by sculptor Adam Weber from Fulda.
Unfortunately I have not found any data about the pulpit and baptismal font. The baptism ware was on a shelf in this church. I have never seen this in other churches. The organ is also a wonderful instrument for my taste.

The Church of the Assumption of Mary is a small gem.

In front of the main street is a square with benches.
