During the Nazi era there were explosives factories in Allendorf and Herrenwald. Forced laborers in particular were used in production. Some of them did not survive the hardships of the inhumane working conditions. The Münchmühle camp was one of the camps in which the forced laborers were housed and was used as a satellite camp of the Buchenwald concentration camp from August 1944. After the war, prisoners of war were housed here. Today there is a memorial to commemorate the victims. In the Stadtallendorf Documentation and Information Center (DIZ) you can get more information about the sad history of this place.
