The Preuss hut, built in 1913, lies at the summit of the Porte Neigre, in the heart of the rose garden and at the foot of the famous Vajolet towers; it is a popular destination for numerous excursions and climbing tours of different levels of difficulty.
It was built by the famous mountain guide Tita Piaz and dedicated to Paul Preuss, an equally famous mountain climber from the early twenties and a pioneer of free climbing. The shelter is still operated by the Piaz family.
