After the Lutherans had gradually established themselves in Aachen from the middle of the 16th century, many families joined this new religion, including the Schleicher family from Aachen. For this they were harassed and disadvantaged and migrated to Stolberg. Here the copper master family, who became increasingly wealthy, built the first stone house in Stolberg in 1575.
