The Grand Bassin, a steep descent to a cozy hamlet. It goes down 800 m from Bois Court to Grand Bassin, once a village with a good 200 inhabitants, who could take care of themselves very well down there until cyclones and storms destroyed their plantations. About 15 residents have stayed, they live mainly from tourism and rent their gîtes to hikers and weekend guests who like to come here because of the peace and quiet.
At the stream Bras de Ste-Suzanne there is a beautiful swimming pool with a waterfall that falls 40 m deep. Don't forget your bathing suit.

On the way to the basin, the stream has to be crossed once, but you can usually get across without getting your feet wet. 😀
