At the LSV (LandschaftsSchutzVerein) observation tower - called "Fietzecks Weitsicht" after its chairman for many years - an additional experience station on the "Bornheimer Apfelroute" (one of the communal loops of the "Rhenish Apple Route") has now been opened. Frank Engel-Strebel writes about this in the weekly newspaper "Schaufenster": "Now a new adventure station on the Rhenish Apple Route, which opened in 2019, invites you to linger. The tower is not very high, but when the weather is nice you have a great view of the surroundings.

The wooden tower is a small icing on the cake for the already great view on the ridge of the foothills. On and around the tower, boards and display cases offer information on geology, nature conservation and the neighboring quartz sand pit.
