The steel truss bridge has been crossing the Thur near Gütighausen and Ossingen since 1915 and replaced the wooden bridge that collapsed in 1880. In 1988 it was extended, whereby the architectural style was adapted to the original style. This served to protect against flooding, because the extension enlarged the foreland, giving the Thur more space for the flow.
