The Schusterstein tunnel was built between 1900 and 1902 as part of the construction of the Chemnitz Küchwald - Wechselburg railway line. It passes under part of the Schusterstein massif, thanks to the beautiful meander (loop) of the Chemnitz.
Today, with its bridge - tunnel - bridge combination, it has been one of the most beautiful spots on the Chemnitz Valley Cycle Path after the renovation in 2015-2016.

A nice tunnel, however, is a little poorly lit.

The Schusterstein tunnel is known in the vernacular. The right thing is: Köthensdorfer Tunnel. It is 126m long.

A highlight of the Chemnitz Valley Cycle Path is undoubtedly the old railway tunnel at the Chemnitz loop near Auerswalde.
