Yverdon is an economic, administrative and cultural center in the northern part of the canton of Vaud with numerous cultural events. The castle of Yverdon, a castle of the Dukes of Savoy (13th and 19th centuries), was from 1805 to 1825 a school run by Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, now it is a museum. Since Roman times the sulphurous spas of Yverdon have been known.

Built by Peter of Savoy in the heart of the old town of Yverdon-les-Bains, the 13th-century castle was designed as a defensive structure and a manorial residence. Today the building houses the Historical Museum of Yverdon and Region, the Swiss Fashion Museum and the Pestalozzi Centre.
