The foundation stone of the Sassenberg parish church was laid in April 1670. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the parish church only had a small ridge turret instead of a tower. In June 1914, it was possible to build the tower with a tower cross and rooster. The church tower offers an unmistakable view of the Münsterland surroundings.
The church's original furnishings include two baroque side altars.
The organ was built in 2008 and 2010.
The six bells were cast in 1946.
