The Hochiss is 2299 m above sea level. A. the highest mountain in the Rofan, a part of the Brandenberg Alps in Tyrol just on the border with Bavaria. Highly recommended and not too difficult ascent (cable car use possible) with great panoramic views.

At 2,299 meters, the Hochiss is the highest peak in Rofan. Super climb, but no fear of heights, fitness and sturdy shoes are an advantage. Then the descent towards the Dalfazalm, one panoramic view after the other. One or two key points, but are secured with steel cables to hold on. A little care must be owed to the loose subsoil (a lot of small scree). And as I said, you should be free from giddiness.

Definitely worth the climb. With 2299 m the highest. Only dizziness, good footwear and a little stamina should be present. It's worth it .

A crazy view for me. I've never stood on the ridge so close to the abyss. The photos can't capture that at all.

Also easy to do with a dog!
We started in Maurach, the path is well signposted and nice to walk! Even for our dog, each passage was easily feasible. We are from the valley to the Erfurter Hütte to the Hochiss, back to Maurach via the Dalfazalm. Walking time 5 hours 🙂

To the hikers with dogs:
We have chosen the route that starts at the Erfurter Hütte and over the Rofanspitze towards Hochisst. Very nice tour, BUT the ascent to Hochiss is not safe with a dog in my opinion (very steep, rope to hold on to the side), so we had to break off there.
