Maria Weissenstein in the Eggental Valley - the cathedral in the Dolomites.

The pilgrimage site of Maria Weissenstein blends mightily and imposingly into the charming natural landscape of the Eggental Valley. Every tree, every meadow here seems inspired by the apparition of the Virgin Mary to the hermit Leonhard Weissensteiner, who encountered the Virgin Mary in 1553 after falling into a deep ravine. He built a chapel in her honor, which has since been further developed and is now an impressive pilgrimage site and namesake of the village near Petersberg.
