Urzeitmuseum Taufkirchen (Vils)

More than 500 exhibits from the time of the great dinosaurs, their successors and the last ice age not only caused a positive surprise, but almost enthusiasm. The range of bone, skeleton and fossil exhibits ranges from giant deer to cave bears, from mammoth hair to dinosaur eggs, from petrified fern leaves to forest elephants roaming around in today's native areas. A separate small hall has been built for some of the dinosaur skeletons. The adjoining open-air garden exudes a touch of Jurassic Park (if you disregard the directly adjacent residential buildings). Some fossils shown from the Messel pit near Darmstadt are exciting. All in all, the museum, which is quite inconspicuous from the outside, turns out to be a real hit.

Absolutely gorgeous for family visits, there are plenty of things for kids to enjoy (and several sand boxes)
