The village was first mentioned in 1194. Niendorf came from Lübeck to the Duchy of Lauenburg in 1747. Since 1889 the community has been part of the Berkenthin District or Office. The clay found in the Niendorfer Feldmark was transported to the Behlendorfer brickworks by means of a small cable car until 1965.
