The lake is surrounded by wooded hills, which is why it is already in the shade in the late afternoon. The fish population of the lake, which is leased to the Bad Aibling district fishing association, shows a wide variety of species: whitefish, pike, zander, carp, tench and, increasingly, catfish. In 2002, the Lauser Weiher overflowed due to torrent-like water masses that flowed from the neighboring slopes banks and flooded large parts of Unterlaus.
