Tips

  • Lemmi alias Schlumpf

The short, crisp ascent, secured by wire rope, is rewarded with scenic highlights and delightful views of the mountains and lakes

The Schober belongs to the Schafberg group of the Salzkammergut mountains.
With its 1328 m above sea level. A. the Schober is the highest elevation on the edge of the terrain, the logical continuation of which over the Schatzwand (1264 m above sea level) is the imposing Drachenwand (1176 m above sea level) above the Mondsee. In the Salzkammergut area, it is one of the hundreds of meters high demolition front of the slipped roof of the Dachstein limestone against the low foothills of the flysch zone (Kolomansberg) to the Alpine foothills. To the west, the foot of the Drachenwand-Schober-Kante runs into the Thalgauegg corridor between Thalgau and Fuschlsee, which, broken by the Fuschler Ache, ends in the Heuberg near Salzburg. In front of the demolition there is a wooded rubble foot with mighty block heaps on the north side.
The south-facing slopes are wooded and fall in the middle towards Fuschlsee and Eibenseebach from the Eibensee.
In front of the Schobergipfel to the south, the sub-summit Frauenkopf (1304 m above sea level) rises above Fuschl am See.

Nice tour of a summit with great views.
    Unfortunately overcrowded regularly.

Magnificent panorama and also the altitude and distance is manageable. The insured sections on the last minutes to the summit are already properly lubricated and slippery.

Can also be ideally combined with the ruins of Wartenfells and Frauenkopf!

A tip: in winter the two peaks Schober and Frauenkopf are not as crowded as in summer. Beautiful sunsets alone at the summit included
